all my life i had been taught that men and women have specific gender roles that are expected by society and inherent in relationship to god, and to go against those is to live a life of unhappiness and in offense to said god.
it’s theological b.s. like this that gives “reason” to beliefs that same sex couples can’t marry (or act on any love for another person of the same sex), and, in effect, puts gender constraints on everyone. it creates a definition of marriage in which the man and woman play “equal” but opposite roles. it also creates a definition of marriage. essentially it creates expectations based on sex, a genetic variable that no one has control over.
these ideas are archaic, stupid, and frankly inhuman. haven’t we progressed enough in thought and technology to be way beyond this “ideology” by now? doesn’t everyone (everyone everyone everyone everyone) deserve a life worth living by their own standards, and not based on some ancient mythology that has been interpreted and reinterpreted for the past 2,000 years?
enough with the “what ifs” of fear mongers who prey (see what i did there) on the ignorance of the masses. it’s time for everyone (everyone everyone everyone everyone) to put trust in their fellow humans again.
